The Groundings

This collection was inspired by my journey juggling motherhood, career progression, and maintaining a sense of self through it all. For me, the hardest part has been grappling with how quickly time moves and how fast things change in the blink of an eye. It’s so easy to get swept up in the hustle, overwhelmed by anxiety, and distracted by things beyond your control.

One technique that has always helped me cope is tactile grounding: using touch as a sensory anchor to quiet the mind and bring yourself back to the present moment. While it’s not always easy to remember to pause, breathe, and ground yourself, these functional vessels are designed to make that practice feel more accessible.

The sensory experience can be found not only in the smooth grit of the stoneware clay, but also in the hand-carved grooves throughout each piece. While grounding served as the inspiration behind this collection, I also wanted the work to feel visually striking by combining bold, contrasting colors with an organic, hand-carved aesthetic.
